AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is proud to support veterans and their families through the “Soldiers at the Symphony” program. This year-round effort offers free tickets to veterans through a partnership with Veteran Tickets Foundation (VetTix). This year’s “Soldiers at the Symphony” Military Appreciation Night will be held at the ASO’s final Masterworks concert series of the season on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, at Long Center’s Dell Hall. For these concerts all military personnel and their families can purchase 25% off tickets. In addition, 30 complimentary tickets will be given to VetTix for distribution.

Since the program’s inception in 2014, nearly 4,000 complimentary tickets from the ASO have been given to soldiers, veterans and their families through VetTix. And so far this season, that number is over 600 and growing. VetTix provides tickets to its members all over the United States to help them reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build life-long memories, and encourage service members and veterans to stay engaged in their community.

A veteran who served three years in the Army expressed his appreciation, “Your generous donations have helped me in a way that words cannot describe! My heart is lifted by this music! Thank you for making these healing experiences possible!”

He continued, “The program moved me deeply. The music had a way of drawing out deep emotions and helping me confront difficult experiences. My husband and I have spoken often about the music we heard that night and have listened to many of Prokofiev’s other compositions since.”

Tickets are available online at http://www.austinsymphony.org where you can also find seating maps and concert information. To participate use the code SATS17 during check-out. Tickets are also available at the Austin Symphony Box Office, 11th and Red River or by calling 512.476.6064 or 1-888-4-MAESTRO (toll-free).
